My name is Zachary Dalton Cook

I’m a Recording Arts graduate (2017) from Full Sail University. In addition to my Bachelor Degree, I was bestowed the Advanced Achievement award and two course director awards, in Critical Listening and Music Business.

​

I have my own business, The Sound Experiments, working as a freelance Audio Engineer on Sound Effects, Production and Post production Mixing and Editing, VR Game Audio and Implementation, and Haptics. I’m immensely passionate about all things sound and music related. I’ve also been a musician for over 15 years, proficient in drums and guitar, as well as composing original music and producing other artist.

My areas of expertise are in VR game audio creation, editing, implementation and testing, as well as capturing Ambisonic sound recordings and implementing into game or linear media and even creating audio vibrations for experimental Haptic drivers. I'm also able to organize and archive thousands of recorded assets, insert metadata and have a very comprehensive understanding of audio compression techniques.

I am extremely well trained and experienced in both studio and field recordings, using the most high end recording equipment. I have extensive and proficient knowledge using industry standard software and hardware such as ProTools Ultimate, Logic-X, WWISE middleware, Unreal4 (for game audio implementing) and Perforce.

I’m an expert in using SSL, Neve, API, Avid and Sound Devices mixers. Extensive knowledge of various plug-ins from Universal Audio, Melodyne, Waves, iZotope, Slate, Toontrack, Neural DSP, Komplete, Impulse Response Utility and more.

My many years as a dedicated musician and a self driven sound engineer allows me to act quickly and make the right decisions in and come up with the best game plan when the time is critical. I’m a team player and I always push myself and the boundaries to make every project shine its best.
